Restored depot

This depot was built by the Great Northern Railway for the newly formed Waterville Railway Co. in 1911. It was used by the short line railroad until flooding washed the line out in 1948. In 1963, it served as headquarters for a local trucking company until 1979. It also served as a residence during that time up until the owner died in 2022. In 2024, the depot was restored by the previous owner’s son. Located at 108 S Rainier St Waterville, Washington.

All that remains from the Douglas Depot is this double faucet and in-ground shut-off water valve. Depot photo taken in 1971 and the faucet pictures taken in Dec 2021.

Out at Touhey

I rode the abandoned railroad grade out at Touhey between Rd 9 NE north to where bridge #43 crossed Rd C NE.  The route was a total of 3.2 miles which ended a few hundred yards east of the Rd C NE crossing.  Pictures taken on May 9, 2015.  I had permission to ride the grade by the owner.
