Great Northern Rwy's Mansfield Branch Line (1909-1985) and the Waterville Railway Co. (1910-1974)

Built by the Great Northern Railway in 1909, the 61 mile line branched off the mainline at the Columbia River and snaked its way up across Douglas County, WA to its terminus in Mansfield. In 1985 it was abandoned, thus closing the book on railroading on the Waterville Plateau. This blog is dedicated to preserving the history of the Mansfield Branch Line and Waterville Railway Co., as well as showcasing my scratch built HO scale models.

Withrow Depot/Shop Diorama

HO scale diorama of the Withrow Depot after it was split in half and converted into a shop. Diorama measures 13" x 13". Withrow native Walter Nollmeyer, split and moved the depot in the 1940's and his son Terry Nollmeyer used it as his shop until he died in 1996.

HO Scale Withrow Depot Shop

HO scale model of the Withrow Depot after it was split in half and moved a couple hundred yards from its original location to Main Street in Withrow, Wash. The other half (freight side), was relocated on a farm some place near Withrow. This model represents the passenger side of the depot that was converted into a shop. In 2006 it was torn down. The original depot was built in 1909 and retired in 1937. Model measures 4"x4" and will go on a diorama.
